Avedisian announces city’s switch to combined utility bills
Up until now, residents have received quarterly bills, highlighted in blue, for their water usage, and a month later received a quarterly bill, highlighted in green, for their sewer usage, with 30 days to pay each separate bill. Now, residents will receive a water/sewer bill each quarter, with orange highlighting, and will have 60 days to pay the full amount.
“Once the city switched over to a quarterly billing system for sewer and water bills, some residents began complaining that it was too confusing to receive so many bills from the city,” Avedisian said. “Now, instead of getting eight separate bills each year, residents will receive only four. This system is also designed not to pose a financial hardship, because we’re doubling the amount of time residents have to pay the combined bill.”
The combined billing system is expected to save the city at least $30,000 annually in processing and mailing costs, Avedisian said.
