Avedisian announces summer Adventure Camp for kids
WARWICK – Mayor Scott Avedisian announced today that applications are now being accepted for the 2007 Summer Adventure Camp Program. This summer camp is offered by the Warwick Police Department, Youth Programs and Parks and Recreation divisions, in conjunction with the Rhode Island National Guard.
The camp, in its seventh year, is open to Warwick boys and girls ages 12 through 17. Its goal is to teach leadership, communication and teamwork skills and build confidence. Lessons on drill and ceremony, physical training, survival skills, land navigation (compass course), high and low ropes course and substance abuse awareness are included in this camp.
The fee for the five-day camp is $25 and is limited to a first come, first served basis. Sessions run Monday through Friday, rain or shine, and are held mostly at Camp Fogarty in East Greenwich. Transportation is provided from the Warwick Police Department each day.
Sessions are as follows: July 9-13, July 16-20, and August 13-17.
