Avedisian announces new Restaurant Guide
WARWICK – Mayor Scott Avedisian announced today the publication of a new, 23-page Warwick restaurant guide, which is available free of charge to residents and visitors to the city.
The spiral-bound guide, published by the Department of Tourism, Culture and Development and produced in cooperation with Artinium Design, Inc., provides an array of dining choices by category, including Irish, Italian, Mexican, pizza and subs, seafood, steak and ribs, American, Chinese/Asian, deli and bakery, diners, breakfast and lunch, pub fare, diners, breakfast and lunch, and hot wieners.
The guide provides a listing of over 170 restaurants, addresses and phone numbers. Several restaurants also provided recipes for customer favorites, such as Gregg’s cheesecake.
United Printing, Inc., a Warwick company, won the bid to print the guides. The first press run was 25,000 copies; another 25,000, with updated information where necessary, will be printed in six months.
The project’s $37,474 price tag was paid for through hotel tax funds that are earmarked to promote tourism in the area. The guide was, in part, the result of suggestions from local hoteliers and the Warwick Tourism Advisory Board, who wanted a way to highlight Warwick’s businesses.
All local hotels, the I95 Welcome Center, the Central Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce and City Hall all have copies available to the general public. The Department of Tourism, Culture and Development will also distribute them through direct mail campaigns, conferences, email requests and inquires to its 800 tourism line.
