Spinale re-appointed to Board of Public Safety
WARWICK – Mayor Scott Avedisian announced today the re-appointment of Dr. Joseph Spinale, a resident of Love Lane, to a second three-year term on the Board of Public Safety. His new term will expire in January, 2011.
“Dr. Spinale is a well-regarded member of the community and has earned the respect of his medical colleagues and our public safety officials,” Avedisian said. “He is fair, thoughtful and thorough when it comes to issues that appear before the Board. I appreciate the fact that Dr. Spinale is willing to give his time to the Board of Public Safety for another three years.”
Spinale has been a Warwick resident for most of his life and attended Warwick public schools. He received a degree in chemistry from Rhode Island College in 1985 and his medical degree from Ohio University in 1989. He is an attending physician at Kent and Miriam Hospitals, with private practice in Warwick and Providence, and serves on several hospital committees. He is also an instructor of medicine at Brown University Medical School.
The Warwick Fire Department has, in the past, recognized Spinale for cardiology-related training. He is a founder of the Kent Heart Safe Foundation and currently serves as the President of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees.
He also serves on the emergency cardiac care committee of the American Heart Association and as vice president of the Kent County Medical Society.
