Fire Department promotional ceremony is Tuesday night
Nineteen individuals will be promoted, and seven recognized as they retire from the department
WARWICK – Mayor Scott Avedisian will administer the oath of office to 19 members of the Fire Department who have been promoted, and will recognize seven retiring department members, at a promotional and awards ceremony Tuesday, August 9, at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers of City Hall.
The Mayor will swear in Inspector Thomas Chace and Rescue Lieutenant Seth Francis.
Six will take the oath of office as lieutenants: Edward Hannon, Jeffrey McGuire, James Warrener, Gary Oatley, Thomas Sugrue and Steven Handy and another five men will be sworn in as captains: Michael Keller, Thomas Sinotte, James McLaughlin, Frederick Trudell and Thomas Maymon.
George Potter will be sworn in as assistant fire marshal, and Robert Letourneau, John Oliveira and Francis Colantonio will take the oath as battalion chiefs. Arthur Lowe will be promoted to fire marshal and Stephen Hay will take the oath as deputy chief.
During the ceremony, Mayor Avedisian, the Fire Department and the Board of Public Safety will also recognize the retirements of Deputy Chief John Feeley, Fire Marshal John Campopiano, Battalion Chief Henry Heroux, Captains Dennis Barlow, Russell McCombs and Glen Scowcroft and Lieutenant Paul Evans.
Also participating in the ceremony will be Battalion Chief Edmund B. Armstrong, who will offer greetings; Firefighter William H. Tyler, who will sing the National Anthem; Chief John E. “Jack” Chartier, who will offer remarks; Rev. Robert Marciano, the department chaplain, who will offer prayers; and the Fire Department Honor Guard.
The Board of Public Safety is comprised of chairwoman Leslie Walaska Baxter, Dr. Joseph Spinale and Marshall P. Martin.
