Avedisian re-elected secretary of Ocean State Charities Trust
WARWICK – At a recent meeting of the Ocean State Charities Trust board of trustees, Mayor Scott Avedisian was renamed secretary of the board. Helen Marandola will serve another term as president, and John Partridge was renamed treasurer.
Avedisian is currently serving a second five-year term on the board. His term expires June 30, 2007.
Ocean State Charities Trust is a five-member foundation that makes grant awards twice a year to non-profit social service and civic-minded organizations. It was established in the 1980s by the state with the proceeds of some refunding and refinancing of housing bonds. Federal regulations required that proceeds be placed in charitable foundations where the interest could be used to support agencies that minister to agencies dealing with health, education, and welfare of families and children.
