WARWICK – Mayor Scott Avedisian announced today that the city has received
an additional 1,000 flu vaccines for Warwick residents and will hold a pre-registration
for a December flu clinic next week. VNA of Care New England is providing the
vaccine and shots.
Pre-registration will be held on Monday, November 29 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at the Pilgrim Senior Center, 27 Pilgrim Parkway. During pre-registration, residents will receive a specific appointment time to receive the flu shot, Avedisian said. The first 1,000 qualified residents will be given appointments; no phone calls will be accepted.
Individuals must meet the following guidelines, established by the Center for Disease Control/Rhode Island, in order to pre-register: be Warwick residents 75 years of age or older, or Warwick residents between the ages of 18 to 74 who can provide a doctor’s note certifying that their health history puts them “at risk” for the flu.
Last week, the city administered approximately 1,485 flu shots during its first clinic, Avedisian said.
