DELGIUDICE ANNOUNCES WEBSITE TO RECORD COYOTE SIGHTINGS

( WARWICK) February 7, 2005 – Councilman John DelGiudice, chairman of the newly formed Coyote Commission, is pleased to announce the development of Warwick’s Coyote Locator Database at the City of Warwick’s website. This new online resource was created to assist Warwick residents in reporting any coyote sightings throughout the city.

DelGiudice stated, “The first step is to determine to the best of our ability what the coyote population is, if they are travelling in packs, and which locations these packs are concentrated in. Once we have this information, we can then move forward and examine what options are available to us for controlling the population.”

Through a convenient online form, residents will be asked to post a description of the coyote, the number of animals they saw, along with the date, time, and location of the sighting. Upon completion, the entered data will be securely sent to Councilman DelGiudice for consideration. In addition, all names, addresses, and observations will be kept strictly confidential.

Participation of Warwick residents is going to be vital to the effectiveness of this program. To find out more about the Coyote Database and the process used to determine coyote sightings, please visit the City website at www.warwickri.gov
