Greetings,
As Mayor, I invite you to explore our website and become acquainted
with the City of Warwick and all that we have to offer. Although
we are Rhode Island’s second largest city with a population
of approximately 85,000 residents, Warwick is actually comprised
of over 30 villages, each with their own place in history,
and has the warm, close-knit feel of a much smaller community.
With 39 miles of coastline, exceptional recreational facilities,
a unique blend of retail businesses and quality schools, Warwick
has long been a wonderful place to live, work and raise a
family.
This website contains a wealth of information that will help
you to become familiar with the City of Warwick. Individuals
looking to vacation here will find an abundance of information
related to hotels and local attractions and events, as well
as links to the nearby communities that help to make our state,
and New England, a wonderful place to visit. Those looking
to Warwick as a location for a new business or as a place
to live will find information relating to the every day workings
of the city. Visitors and Warwick residents alike can also
access general information, meeting dates, schedules and programs
related to virtually every city department, from our nationally-accredited
Police Department and Senior Centers, to the School Department,
the Planning Department, City Clerk’s Office, Recycling
and Sanitation Division, Tax Assessor’s Office and more.
Conveniently located in the middle of the state, Warwick
is host to T.F. Green State Airport and is easily accessible
by Interstates 95 and 295. There are also plans to build an
Amtrak train station near the airport, which would allow us
to have the closest air-rail link of any community in the
country. All of this, along with more than a dozen marinas,
makes our city a truly intermodal municipality.
Among our annual festivals, parades and celebrations is Gaspee
Days, which celebrates the first armed conflict of the American
Revolution – before the Boston Tea Party. Be sure to
visit our Tourism page for more information about the Gaspee
Days activities that take place annually in May and June in
historic Pawtuxet Village.
Again, I welcome you to our website and encourage you to
explore the pages here. I think you’ll discover what
our residents already know – that the City of Warwick
is a premier location and the crossroads of Southern New England.
Sincerely,
Scott Avedisian
Mayor
