| Through its
Department of Human Services and Commission on Human Services, the
city and several nonprofit agencies provide a number of services
including:
Transwick - Any Warwick resident who
is 55 years of age or older, disabled, or does not possess any available
means of transportation is eligible to participate in the Transwick
program. From trips to the grocery store and nursing home to recreational
excursions and retail shopping, the Transwick program provides many
of the transportation needs of Warwick's residents.
Senior Centers - The City of Warwick provides
a wide range of quality services to its Seniors. Many of Warwick's
seniors are life-long residents and, as such, have earned a tremendous
amount of respect and gratitude of City Hall. Through a wide range
of programs, such as quality meals, health seminars, affordable
housing, reliable transportation, and other engaging activities,
it is our hope that Warwick's seniors will continue to take pride
in our great City.
The Mayor’s Handicap Commission, which establishes an understanding
and implementation of provisions and regulations for Warwick to
meet the standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
A Substance Abuse Program, which offers "in the field"
help to combat the current substance abuse in the schools and throughout
the community.
Project Hope, a state and city-funded Adolescence Pregnancy/Parenting
Program designed to assist teenage parents.
Rescue services are provided by the city’s Fire Department
and one private ambulance service.
Kent County Memorial Hospital,
a nonprofit general hospital which cares for medical, emergency,
surgical, pediatric, obstetrical and psychiatric patents from around
the region.
Walk-in Medical Clinics. There are two medical walk-in clinics
in Warwick:
