TRAFFIC ADVISORY
MORE TWO-WAY TRAFFIC COMING TO THE APPONAUG CIRCULATOR |
RIDOT to open next phase of new circulator (Effective now) |
As it continues to transform a congested and outdated urban circulator system into a more efficient, safer and accessible facility, the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) is set to introduce the next step in completing the Apponaug Circulator in the City of Warwick.
These changes are scheduled to begin on Wednesday, November 16th. Additional segments of one-way roadway will transition to two-way traffic by the end of November, relocating the main flow of traffic around Apponaug instead of directly through the heart of this historic village.
All schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change. The first phase of changes involves Post Road East. Other changes will follow later in the month.
Phase I: Post Road East
Motorists are reminded to yield to traffic already in the circle as they approach each roundabout. Traffic cones will be placed along the double-yellow center line in this stretch of roadway to indicate to motorists that they need to use the roundabouts to reverse direction and access side streets rather than making left hand turns. Additional segments of one-way roadway will transition to two-way traffic later this month, relocating the main flow of traffic around Apponaug instead of directly through the heart of this historic village.
