|Public Service Announcement - Building Inspector’s Office|
Mayor Scott Avedisian announced today that the city’s Building Department staff will be on site at the Warwick Mall property from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday (April 12) to help affected businesses and residents navigate the inspection and re-building process. They will be working out of the mall’s Operations Center, located in the former Halloween store at the entrance of the parking lot.
Since the flood, officials have cautioned people who had electrical or natural gas power cut off that they should not restore electrical power or gas service to their homes until they have contacted the Building Department and had a licensed electrician or plumbing/mechanical contractor inspect the property to make sure it is both safe to restore utilities and structurally sound.
Any mechanical, building or plumbing inspectors who have been hired by individuals or business will need to show their Rhode Island License before they can obtain building permits or have inspections completed.
Avedisian said if necessary the department will be on site Tuesday as well; that will be determined by Monday afternoon
