Oakland Beach to get new “gateway” sign PDF Print E-mail
The Oakland Beach Association is the recipient of a grant that will enable it to purchase a new sign for the “gateway” to the neighborhood, Mayor Scott Avedisian and City Councilwoman Donna Travis announced today.

The $2,500 grant, from the Providence Warwick Convention and Visitors Bureau, will pay for a sign to replace the one currently installed at the intersection of West Shore Road and Oakland Beach Avenue.

“We are very grateful to be included in the PWCVB’s grant awards,” Travis said. “Thousands of people come to Oakland Beach each year, especially in the summer, to enjoy our beach, restaurants and seasonal activities and this will give us an attractive sign to welcome people to our community.”

“Oakland Beach has seen such revitalization in the past several years,” Avedisian said. “This will really complement the hard work that residents and businesses are doing to improve properties and beautify the area.”
