On 25 September, 2010, the Warwick Police Department will host a medication collection site in the lobby of the police station, 99 Veterans Memorial Dr., between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Anyone needing to dispose of unused/unwanted medications may bring them in for destruction. The medications can be prescription or over-the-counter.
All solid dosage pharmaceutical product and liquids in consumer containers may be accepted. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain sealed in their original container. Please ensure the cap is on tight. Intra-venous solutions, injectibles, and syringes will not be accepted due to potential hazard posed by blood-borne pathogens. This collection is an effort to keep old/unused medications out of the wrong hands and out of the environment. Many people have such medications in their medicine cabinets. The drop off site is strictly anonymous and no questions will be asked of those depositing medications. For further information, go to www.dea.gov. |
