Dear Community Member:
This notice is in regards to a “Level 3” sex offender. A Level 3 classification allows the police department to provide information to all persons likely to encounter the offender, including the parents of children who attend a school within a half-mile radius of the offender’s residence.
You are being notified of a registered sex offender residing in Warwick who has been designated as a Level Three offender. The Rhode Island Sex Offender Review Board makes this designation. It means that the Warwick Police Department must notify certain community members in accordance with law. You are being provided with all of the information that the police department can legally provide.
The purpose of this notification is to keep the community informed. It is not meant to create a sense of panic or fear. It merely reflects the belief that an informed public is a safer public.
The offender described in this “fact sheet” is known to the Warwick Police Department and has complied with all terms of his release.
Note: Anyone who threatens, intimidates, harasses, or interferes with the person named in this fact sheet, will be arrested and prosecuted by the Warwick Police Department to the full extent of all applicable statutes and ordinances. Further, confronting or harassing registered offenders could potentially end law enforcement’s ability to keep the community informed. If community notification ends due to harassment, only the sex offender benefits.
The Warwick Police Department is available if you have any further questions or concerns. We can, however, provide information on Meagan’s Law in general and steps you can take to protect yourself and your family.
For questions or concerns, call the Warwick Police Department at 468-4200. Ask for Community Services Division. If they are not available, you may leave a voice message or ask to speak to the Officer in Charge. You may also find more information on “Level 3” high-risk offenders statewide on the parole board’s website www.paroleboard.ri.gov
As always, call 911 for an Emergency.
The information provided to you regarding Registered Sex Offenders is in accordance with state law. Only those offenders convicted after July 24, 1996 are subject to this community notification. Therefore, please be aware that there are likely other sex offenders in your area who we may not post on this web site. In order to protect your family you should have open communication with your children at an age appropriate level. Avoid scary details. Advise children of important safety measures such as walking in groups, avoiding common lures (lost puppy, your mother is ill, etc.), and reporting suspicious activities to a trusted adult. Police Officers are available to speak to groups (kids or parents) upon request. Call 468-4325 to arrange for a presentation.
