Warwick Ghost Tour offers spook-tacular way to celebrate Halloween PDF Print E-mail

Mayor Scott Avedisian and Deb Place, the Warwick Museum of Art’s (WMOA) Board of Directors’ vice president, announced today that Warwick Ghost Tours will be held Saturday, October 23 and Friday, October 29, in cooperation with the Ghost Hunt Organized Search Team (GHOST) and the Apponaug Area Improvement Association (AAIA).

Tours begin promptly on the hour at 6, 7, and 8 p.m. upstairs in City Council Chambers, where GHOST team members will discuss their experiences in paranormal studies and offer evidence reviews of recent investigations of City Hall and WMOA.  Demonstrations of ghost-hunting equipment and tours of City Hall, including the site of the former municipal jail in the basement, will follow. All tours will end at the Museum, housed in the former armory, where ghost hunting equipment will be set up, and fun raffles and refreshments will be available for purchase.

The October 29 night includes a “Family Night” component, when the AAIA invites kids in costume to meet at 5:30 p.m. inside the Warwick Central Baptist Church’s Friendship Hall in Apponaug and Trick-or-Treat at local businesses until 7 p.m. AAIA will also be handing out trick-or-treat bags to the first 250 “goblins” that arrive.  Family night also features story time and refreshments.  All of those activities are free.

Tickets for the ghost tours are just $5 per person, but due to limited capacity, should be purchased in advance. When purchasing tickets, please specify which date and what tour time you are reserving.

Tickets are available online at www.warwickmuseum.org, or by calling 737-0010 or 467-8734. They can also be purchased at the WMOA or at Carol’s Country Corner, both located in Apponaug, during regular business hours.

Those who don’t want to take the tour but would like to visit the museum for refreshments, the raffle and Halloween atmosphere and/or take part in Family Night are cordially welcome; tickets are not required for those events.

For more information about the Family Night, call Carol Pratt, at Carol’s Country Corner, at 732-5651.

About GHOST: The Warwick-based investigative group consists of a core of four investigators and three assistant investigators. Their interest in history and the unexplained – along with some personal experiences living in a haunted house – sparked their interest in the paranormal. With a decade of investigative experience, GHOST members pride themselves on the integrity of their investigations, even reluctantly debunking some of their own theories from time to time. Past investigations include the Slater Mill, the Bristol Armory, the Kent County Daily Times newspaper offices, Smith Castle, and the Westerly Armory. Their next investigation will be at Shady Lea Mill in North Kingstown. To learn more or to contact them for investigations, log onto: www.ghosthuntri.com
