Inaugural Service of Thanksgiving to be held Sunday at Trinity Episcopal Church
The city will celebrate the inauguration of Mayor Scott Avedisian, the City Council and the School Committee on Tuesday, January 6 at 7 p.m. in City Council Chambers of City Hall.
The Inaugural program features a prelude by the Pawtuxet Rangers, R.I.M. and the Pawtuxet Rangers Fife and Drum Corps and a procession of honor guards from the Rangers and the Warwick Fire and Police Departments.

The Buttonwoods Beach Chapel Choir will sing the national anthem. The Right Reverend Geralyn Wolf, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Rhode Island, will give the invocation, Rabbi Leslie Yale Gutterman of Temple Beth-El will offer prayers, and Rev. Alfred Ricci, the pastor of St. Gregory the Great Roman Catholic Church, will give the benediction. Ward One Councilman-elect Steven Colantuono will lead the Pledge of Allegiance.

As she has done for all of Avedisian’s mayoral inaugurations, Haiganush Bedrosian, associate justice of the state Family Court, will administer the oath of office to the mayor, who will in turn swear in City Council and School Committee members. The mayor will also offer an address. Matthew Boulet, the 10-year-old son of Eddie Boulet, a city employee who died last month, will hold the mayor’s family Bible as Avedisian is sworn in. The Buttonwoods Beach Chapel Choir will also perform musical selections, interspersed throughout the program.

The public is invited to attend. While there is no charge for the event, attendees are asked to bring a canned good to benefit the Westbay Marketplace food pantry.

On Sunday, January 4, an Inaugural Service of Thanksgiving will be held at 9:30 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 139 Ocean Avenue, Cranston, in historic Pawtuxet Village. Trinity is the Mayor’s parish, where his family has worshipped for generations.
