Residents with flooded homes urged caution with electrical, natural gas systems; Building Department needs to inspect affected properties Print
Mayor Scott Avedisian and the city’s Building Department are reminding residents and business owners whose properties have flooded to use caution with electrical and natural gas systems.

Approximately 2,500 properties in Warwick have had their electricity and/or gas cut off due to flooding from the Pawtuxet River. Building officials caution people that they should not restore electrical power or gas service to their homes until they have contacted the Building Department and had a licensed electrician or plumbing/mechanical contractor inspect the property.

The Building Department is enlisting the help of a number of licensed electricians, plumbers and structural engineers to help Building Department staff complete inspections of affected properties to assure that they are safe and to get affected residents and business owners back into their properties as quickly as possible.

For additional information, please contact Colleen White at the Building Department at 738-2000, ext. 6314, Debbie Gemma at ext. 6299, Amy Cota at ext. 6300 or Carol Chevalier at ext. 6294.
