Residents can now pay property taxes by phone Print

Water and sewer tax payments will soon be accepted online and by phone too

Mayor Scott Avedisian today announced that the city, which recently began accepting property tax payments online, now also offers taxpayers the ability to pay current year property tax bills by phone with a credit card or an e-check.   Those interested in using this new service must call the vendor, Official Payments, toll free at 877-847-6321. Taxpayers must have their year and bill number ready.

Avedisian and Tax Collector/Acting Assessor Ken Mallette said that, within the month, taxpayers will also have the option of paying their water and sewer bills with a credit card online or by phone.

The city began accepting online property tax payments in June as part of a complete overhaul of the city’s website, www.warwickri.gov, meant to make the site more informative and convenient for residents.

There is a fee – 2.5 percent of the amount of the transaction – for those who choose to pay online or by phone. Taxpayers will know that amount before they finalize the transaction and if they feel it’s too high, they can terminate the transaction and pay the bills by check or in person, said Mallette.
