Cans & Scrap Metal |

Preparation:
Rinse cans. A think skin of dry latex paint in can or
on lids is OK.
Examples:
Aluminum &
tin cans, foil & pie plates, empty steel aerosol cans,
empty latex paint cans, scrap metal, toasters, irons,
wire hangers
Exceptions:
No scrap metal longer than 3 ft. or
heavier than 35 lbs., aluminum or aerosol cans, oil-based
paint cans, or hypodermic needles.

| Large
Metal Items

Preparation:
Place
next to blue bin at curbside. When the garbage truck passes
your house, your metal items will be noted and a separate
truck will collect it the same day.
Examples: Grills, lawnmowers, bicycles, lawn
chairs, refrigerators, stoves, etc.
Exceptions: No
automotive fuel tanks or oil tanks. Please remove all fluids
from lawnmowers, etc.

| Glass
Bottles & Jars

Preparation:
Rinse.
Remove caps and lids. OK to recycle metal lids. No need
to remove paper or plastic labels.
Examples: Mayonnaise
jars, wine & beer bottles, applesauce, spaghetti sauce,
& salsa jars, vinegar bottles, baby food jars.
Exceptions: No broken
glass, cups, dishes, glass windows, plates, Pyrex, ceramics,
mirrors, lightbulbs, crystal.

Plastic
Bottles(1)

Preparation:
Rinse.
Remove and throw away plastic caps and lids. No need to
remove paper or plastic labels.
Examples: All plastic
bottles and jugs with the (1) symbol on the bottom, soda
& juice bottles, salad dressing bottles, shampoo bottles,
window cleaner.
Exceptions: No plastic
shopping bags, plastic food wrap, potato chip & sandwich
bags, Styrofoam, plastics with symbols (3) through (7),
plastic tubs (yogurt, margarine, ice cream), automotive
fluid bottles (oil, antifreeze, brake fluid).

Plastic
Bottles(2)/Jugs

Preparation:
Rinse. Remove and throw away plastic caps
and lids. No need to remove paper or plastic labels.
Examples:
Colored and uncolored
bottles with the (2) symbol on the bottom, milk jugs, detergent
bottles, juice bottles, saline solution bottles, fabric
softener & bleach bottles.
Exceptions: No plastic
shopping bags, plastic food wrap, potato chip & sandwich
bags, Styrofoam, plastics with symbols (3) through (7),
plastic tubs (yogurt, margarine, ice cream), automotive
fluid bottles (oil, antifreeze, brake fluid).

| Drink
Cartons / Juice Boxes |

Preparation:
Rinse.
Straws should be thrown away in trash.
Examples: Milk &
juice cartons, juice boxes, flavored milk boxes, cream and
creamer containers.
Exceptions: No refrigerated
or frozen food and vegetable boxes, ice cream boxes, TV
dinners, margarine boxes, cream cheese boxes.
