Sidewalk Committee

THE ORDINANCE REQUIRING SNOW REMOVAL FROM SIDEWALKS
 
Resolved that,
 
WHEREAS, the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the City of Warwick are matters of paramount importance to the City Council; and
 
WHEREAS, City ordinances require removal of snow and ice from City sidewalks and impose fines and other penalties for violations of the ordinances; and
 
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to review, update amend where necessary the applicable ordinances; and
 
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to establish a committee to conduct said review of the ordinances.
 
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council hereby establishes a committee that shall exist for no more than six (6) months to review the City ordinances which require removal of snow and ice from City sidewalks and which impose fines and other penalties for violations of the ordinances and make recommendations for amendments to the ordinances if any are found to be necessary;
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT said committee shall be composed of the following members:
Councilman Ed Ladouceur, Ward 5 Chair
Councilman Joseph Gallucci, Ward 8 Vice Chair
Interim Chief of Staff, William DePasquale or his designee
Department of Public Works Director, David Picozzi, or his designee
Police Chief Stephan McCartney
Assistant Fire Chief Bruce Cooley
Stephen O’Haire from the Warwick School Department
 
Councilwoman Camille Vella-Wilkinson, Ward 3
Public Member: George Schuster of 15 River Vue Ave. Warwick, RI
A Business member of the business community in the City as appointed by the Chair The City Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this Resolution to the members appointed to the committee that is hereby established.
 
This Resolution shall take effect upon passage.
