City seal with address

Founded by Samuel Gorton in 1642, Warwick has witnessed the major events of American history. Warwick was devastated during King Philip’s War (1675-76) and was the site of the first shot fired of the American Revolution against the British schooner Gaspee. Warwick is also the home of revolutionary war general Nathaniel Greene, George Washington’s second in command, and the Civil War hero of the battle of Gettysburg, General George Sears Greene. Whether it is Warwick’s rich military, nautical, or industrial history, historians can find a treasure-trove of information within our heritage. The purpose of this module is to provide a database by which residents can share their memories of Warwick for genealogical and historical purposes. From trips to the Oakland Beach amusement park before the hurricane of ’38 to life in the old Spring Green School, this site will provide enough space to share your memories and your photographs as well.
