BoneBuilders of RI


BoneBuilders is an innovative exercise program using moderate free-weights that when performed at least twice a week for six months can improve strength, balance and increase energy levels, while significantly increasing bone density. The program was developed by Dr. Miriam Nelson and Tufts University and can be custom tailored for each participant. This class is sponsored by The Village at Waterman Lake. Day classes are offered on Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 10:45am.  Evening BoneBuilders meets at 4:30pm on Wednesdays. 

To enroll in this program, there is are three waiver forms (links at bottom).  Waiver 1 is Pilgrim's registration form to participate in classes.  Waiver 2 is your personal disclosure of liability.  Waiver 3 is medical clearance from your Primary Care Physician.  The medical waiver typically does not need an appointment with your doctor to be completed, but rather can be dropped off and can be returned by fax directly to BoneBuilders from your doctor's office.  

Exercises can be done with or without weights.  We do ask that you bring your own weights to class.  If any exercise is beyond your ability, do them within your own comfort level.  Also, if you feel exercises are too simple for you to benefit, you may not be using the proper weights.  See if anyone in the class purchased weights that are beyond their comfort level and would be interested in trading or purchase larger weights.
