Lead Education for Kids

Did You Know?
Lead poisoning is the most common childhood environmental danger in Rhode Island.

Children under six are at the greatest risk because their developing bodies absorb lead more easily. Lead does the greatest damage to the brain and central nervous system.

In children, low-level lead poisoning can:

  • Reduce intelligence
  • Cause hyperactivity
  • Impair growth
  • Shorten attention spans
  • Cause learning disabilities

Here are some informative and fun ways that you can learn about the dangers of lead:

  • Adventures of the Lead Busters Club - Sherman Holmes, Henry Lee, Agatha Krispy, and Elisa Perez, are in school. Ms. Marble, their teacher, says to the class, "There is something dangerous in our neighborhood. Do you know what it is?
